The Oktoberfest Medallion is found! Amber Blomquist and Alex Keller of West Salem made the discovery in Myrick park Sunday morning. Blomquist said it was their first day joining the Medallion hunt this year.
“It was just dumb luck,” Blomquist said. They reviewed the clues the night before and first stopped in Crawley Park before checking out Myrick Park.
“He got a call from work, and we pulled over in Myrick Park,” Blomquist said. “He was on the phone, so I just went up and I looked, and the second place I looked I found it. It was kind of a fluke but really exciting, and the right place at the right time.”
She kicked it up from some dirt under a pine tree and wooden arch near where the zoo used to be.
Blomquist also found the Oktoberfest Medallion in 2008 and admitted to being an avid hunter in various community-related medallion hunts.
The couple has not decided how to spend the $500 cash prize but said they were looking forward to the start of the festivities. Oktoberfest kicks off Thursday!
