Gabby Barrett has rocketed up the charts with her first single, “I Hope”. All the way to number one to be exact. Gabby first hit the scene as a contestant on American Idol in Season 16 where she came in third place. She’s not new to singing though as she started singing at the age of 9 growing up in Pennsylvania. She won her first competition at the age of 14 at the Kean Quest Talent Search. With her run on AI she stayed within her expertise covering songs by Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, Miranda, and Whitney Houston. She did go a little outside her comfort zone by singing “How Come U Don’t Call Me Anymore” by Prince. Carrie is even a fan of Gabby’s saying that she is further along than Underwood was at her age.
While Gabby’s career is rather young she has gotten a lot of credit for releasing a “revenge song” of the best caliber. Seeming to wish her ex well, and that they find the love of their life only to be crushed when that new love cheats on them they way they cheated on her. It’s a genius take on an age old story of lovers being scorned. “I Hope” will be part of her first album to be released “Goldmine”.
