Alice in Dairyland shares how to get your State Fair fix

She’s currently working to bring the sights and sounds of agriculture to people of all backgrounds, but 73rd Alice in Dairyland Julia Nunes now details how we can get a taste of Wisconsin with State Fair Necessities.

“People can get that taste of summer that they’ve been craving,” Nunes said. “They’ve been doing State Fair Drive-Thrus for the past two weekends, and it is going to continue for the next two weekends ahead of us. I know it is a little far to drive, but it is worth it, and this weekend is the first weekend that the Cream Puffs are going to be available. People are getting really excited about that.”

Nunes has been on the grounds for some of the State Fair Drive-Thur activities, including helping agricultural organizations such as the Wisconsin Pork Producers serve meals.

“I think now more than ever it is important to support your local farmers and local farm communities,” Nunes said.

Several agricultural organizations use events such as county and district or the Wisconsin State Fair as fundraisers for nonprofit organizations. Although the Wisconsin Products Pavilion is not packed with staples from Wisconsin farmers, treats are being packaged and shipped directly to people’s homes.

“They put together a box that kind of gives you that experience,” Nunes said. “It is full of Cream Puff-flavored coffee, Wisconsin maple syrup, sausage, cranberries, cherries, and more. There are so many great Wisconsin products in that box.”

Although Nunes’ year is different than others in the history of Alice in Dairyland, she continues to educate the public through virtual platforms such as social media and the Alice in Dairyland blog.

“Hopefully later this year or early next year, I’ll be able to get out and see people in person and meet them because that’s what I really love,” Nunes said.
