Touching tribute to Alex Trebek as he signs off for a final time, as host of ‘Jeopardy!’

We all remember this message, and health update, from Alex Trebek in March of 2020. After already beating the odds of one year of survival with stage 4 pancreatic cancer, it gave us hope that he was doing well and would be with us a lot longer than anticipated.
Unfortunately, cancer won and Alex died on November 8, 2020. Alex taped the final episode of ‘Jeopardy!’ just ten days before he died. The final episode of Alex hosting was aired last week, with an incredible tribute to a man who will be very missed.
Alex’s oldest daughter, Nicky posted on Instagram “You were extraordinary!!!”, and added the hashtags #jeopardyforever and #wemissyoudad.
TODAY has the full story, and reports that Alex adopted Nicky when he married his first wife Elaine. Nicky worked as a production coordinator on ‘Jeopardy!’, according to her IMDB profile.
Alex will be deeply missed, but the show must go on. TODAY reports that the game show “resumed production on Nov. 30th, with Ken Jennings, who was the most decorated player in the history of the show, serving as the first interim host”. There will be other fill-in hosts, as they search for a more permanent replacement. Katie Couric has been announced as one of those special guests who will host for a full week of the show. Alex was one of a kind. This will be a new beginning for the game show, leaving Alex’s legacy in our fond memories.
