KQ98 Salutes: Staff Sergeant Robert J. Miller

Bauer’s Market and Garden Center Pledge of allegiance shout out with DUKE. We salute US Army Special Forces Staff Sergeant Robert J. Miller. January 25th, 2008, Sergeant Miller was leading a reconnaissance mission in Konar Province, Afghanistan. His team of 8 US Special Forces soldiers and 15 Afghan National Army soldiers came under heavy fire from 100 enemy insurgents. Miller ran directly into the machine gun fire and conducted a frontal assault which allowed members of His team to retreat and find cover until air support arrived. Miller’s cover fire allowed all of His team to survive the ambush. For Those actions in 2008, Sergeant Miller was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor, Posthumously.
