In A Year Without Open Theaters Oscars Still Honor Films With Awards
Written by Tony Schultz on March 16, 2021
Some know that I’m a big film buff. I love movies! This last year was tough on someone like me who couldn’t get out to the movie theaters. Some films you can watch on the home TV, but some require that “experience” you can only get in the theaters. I’m pretty sure if I had been forced to watch Avengers: Endgame on my TV I would have been extremely disappointed not having the giant screen, 3D, ultra surround sound immersive experience. Also, it’s fun to share those moments with a crowd! So when Captain America lifts Thor’s hammer and starts to battle Thanos and the entire theater cheered you really felt a part of something big. The nominees for this year’s Academy Awards have to feel a little disappointed as not as many fans could watch them in theaters. I know I feel like there are some I barely or never heard about. I’m glad that the actors and movies are still being recognized and I look forward to watching the show even if I don’t have any favorites to get behind.
