Neighbors Helping Neighbors In Winona Grows Beyond Original Plan Due To Covid
Written by admin on May 1, 2021
Neighbors Helping Neighbors in Winona helps folks that have short term needs that can be met with the help of community volunteers. The group developed from Engage Winona after the early days of the Covid pandemic and has evolved in the last year. Neighbors Helping Neighbors has coordinated the creation of thousands of homemade masks (8000 and counting!); fulfilled hundreds of requests for chores, materials, and support; and provided thousands of dollars of donated funds in one-time direct aid. The group coordinated and delivered more than 1,000 free meals during Thanksgiving and Christmas. The group also led to the creation of Winona Resources, a website with connections to employment, healthcare, mental health, and more. The project is centered in a Facebook group, where more than 3,300 (and growing!) folks are asking for help, offering services and resources, and volunteering to meet needs.
