College Player Duped Into Thinking He Had An NFL Tryout

Every year hundreds of young men are drafted by the NFL to play a game that could set them up financially for years to come. For some the path is longer than others and some of those that were supposed to have lifelong careers burn out quickly. For every Johnny Manziel, Laquon Treadwell, or Cedric Benson there is a Tom Brady, Adam Thielen, or John Randle. The “undrafted” players are always the best stories for the NFL. You can’t get through a Vikings game without the announcers telling you Thielen is from Detroit Lakes, Minnesota, went to Division 2 Minnesota State University, Mankato, and was undrafted when the Vikings brought him into training camp and he has become a star wide receiver in the league. BINGO! Feel good stories will always be held on a higher pedestal. Every player that gets drafted in the later rounds, or goes undrafted but gets invited to a training camp needs only look at the previous names and hope they get the chance, proper coaching, and a little bit of luck to become the next big thing. When Juantarius Bryant, a defensive back from Austin Peay got a call from the Atlanta Falcons coaching staff to have a tryout at their rookie mini-camp he was excited for his opportunity. Unfortunately it turned out to be a hoax. He was embarrassed to say the least when he got there and they turned him away. While the call looked and sounded legitimate it was not real. Ouch. Not a cool thing to do to a young man trying to pursue his dreams. I feel he handled it pretty professionally with an online response. What do you think?
