HEAD TO MINNEAPOLIS FOR HORROR MOVIE INSPIRED ICE CREAM

I love it when restaurants get into the spirit of any holiday. Some are easier to get into than others. Christmas can come down to simple decorations or flavors that remind us of that jolly season. Thanksgiving just requires things to be pumpkin spice or apple flavored entrees. St. Patrick’s Day? Just make it green! So when it comes to making foods that go with Halloween it can be a challenge since that holiday is about scaring people or grossing them out. My wife is an excellent baker and has made Halloween themed foods and desserts over the years including brain cakes, severed zombie arms, and even a concoction called “liposuction”. Great for Halloween parties and kid friendly get together events, but what can you put together that really gets the true horror fan included? Come up with a Halloween flavor that they know is music to their ears as soon as you mention one name: Hannibal Lector. As a character in the horror genre there is probably no one more terrifying from a psychological standpoint then “The Cannibal”. When Silence Of The Lambs came out in the early 90s it was so disturbing that there were several reports of people walking out of the theaters not due to any gore or gratuitous scenes, but simply that Sir Anthony Hopkins was so believable and creepy that they couldn’t handle his performance. Bebe Zito in Minneapolis has decided to tap into the famous line about a census taker Hannibal ran into and make it into an ice cram flavor that actually sounds pretty tasty! Hannibal’s Dinner: Ice cream made with chunks of braised veal brains, cookie dough-like foie gras, lemony fava bean cake mix, and a caramelized Chianti gastrique drizzled on top. OK, maybe not super tasty as veal brains and goose liver in ice cream doesn’t exactly get my mouth watering, but for the adventurous horror fan they may be salivating at the opportunity to give it a try. Would I try it? Sure, you only live once. You can read more about the cinema inspired flavor by clicking on the following picture and go try it ……. if you dare!
