“ELF” THEMED BAR IN CHICAGO DOES NOT SMELL OF BEEF AND CHEESE

I can’t honestly say that, but I’m going to guess they do their best to not make it smell that way. There are “pop up” bars and shops every year around this time of year. They usually grab on to a theme and use that to market the business in a unique way. In La Crosse, I love the setup and motif in The Breakfast Club and Pub! All John Hughes with a cool movie reference inspired menu and they play a video channel on some of the TVs pumping out your favorite 80s tunes while the other screens have classic Hughes movies like Uncle Buck and Home Alone. So when I saw this story it made me disappointed that an “Elf” themed bar wasn’t much closer. Who doesn’t love the Will Ferrel movie about a human that was raised by elves at the North Pole and is a close personal friend of Santa? OK, there are a few Grinches out there that don’t like it, but they know the many quotes that come from it. Imagine walking into Elf’d Up, a bar that Buddy the Elf designed and spread his Christmas cheer for all to hear (it’s really The Stretch Bar with a temporary theme). You know it will be fun and smell like cookies and syrup. In fact they even have a dish of spaghetti with syrup, chocolate syrup, chocolate fudge, mini marshmallows, and strawberry Pop-tarts on it. Must be great for the morning hangover crowd. You can even set up a tour or a private party. Maybe the best thing though is that you can meet Buddy himself! So don’t be a cotton headed ninny muggins and go check it out at there website elfdup.com. I don’t know if you’ll need to travel through the Candy Cane Forest to get there, but at least you get to avoid the Lincoln Tunnel. Remember: the gum isn’t free candy. Don’t eat it!
