WORKER GOES EXTRA HARD WHEN DECORATING HIS CUBICLE
Written by Tony Schultz on February 1, 2022
I worked in the corporate world for 13 years and lived the cubicle life. It can be extremely boring and tedious, but you hopefully learn along the way and meet some cool people. Luckily I did both. When I worked in downtown St. Paul I was lucky enough to have windows nearby that I could glance out from a distance. The best was when I had a window seat and could look out over Rice Park. This time of year was exceptionally cool because they would have an ice sculpting competition and I could watch them carve the sculptures from my window. But much of existing inside the fuzzy walls of a cubicle is pretty boring and you can feel trapped. Let’s just say when I saw the movie “Office Space” I felt seen and understood. I had a few thing decorating my cubicle, a Vikings calendar, clips from the newspaper in 1998 when Randy Moss became a star. Random cartoon clippings and funny pictures. Nothing extreme. A man asked his boss if he could decorate his cube and he went all out. I mean, just look at this! I wish I had the skill and drive back then to do this. When you don’t have a view just make your own. This is what I picture that Ron Swanson’s first professional workspace looked like.
