WILL VALLEY FAIR BE UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP?

Written by on February 2, 2022

It’s possible. Reports have come out that Minnesota’s biggest theme park located in Shakopee might be sold. The company that owns them were offered $3.4 billion dollars to be completely bought out by Sea World. So, it’s not a done deal. There isn’t a lot of opportunities for whales to be moved up here, but that’s a pretty big name to be interested. Will this be a good thing for VF? That’s hard to say. In my opinion new owners and new money might be a good thing. They might be able to build some new rides that put Minnesota more on the map for thrill rides. I haven’t been there for several years after taking our kids there a few times when we lived in the Twin Cities. Talking with a coworker I was disappointed to hear the The Flume was no longer there and had been replaced with a wave pool. If you never got to experience The Flume then you missed out! My one worry when a big company buys another is if they will close it down, or change it in ways that the locals bristle at. The worst would be to drive the prices up. This isn’t California or Florida and it certainly isn’t “The House of Mouse” theme park. Valley Fair has always been a great place to take the family and no matter what happens I hope it keeps as much of its classic look and rides that it has always had. I always felt that there was just enough rides to go on, a few attractions to check out, and the food prices weren’t meant to gouge you. Not sure if you can still get the fried chicken that was near The Flume, but it was good and it didn’t take all the money my mom sent with me as a kid. Maybe I’ll need to make the trip this summer and tap back into the park that made me love and appreciate thrill rides and all they have to offer.
