PHOTOGRAPHER FALLS OFF STAGE, MATT STAFFORD CATCHING HEAT FOR NOT HELPING

The Rams won the Super Bowl on Sunday and had their celebration on Wednesday with a parade. As per usual, they had a big stage set up so that fans could see their team and bask in the win. After ceremonies were done they were on the stage mingling around when a photographer took too many steps backwards and fell off the stage which looked like a 9 foot drop. Cameras caught the incident and the person closest to her was Rams quarterback Matt Stafford. He definitely saw her fall and seems to mouth “oh my God” when it happens. What he’s getting flack for is that he seemed to immediately turn and walk away. As I said, the stage is very tall and who knows where his mind was at that time. His wife walked to the front of the stage to check on the woman, but could not reach her. While no one expected him to jump down and do something most just wish he had looked down to her to make sure she got help. Some people are going a bit overboard on the criticism trying to turn him into some sort of villain as if he pushed her, which he did not. While he could have looked down to her there isn’t much more he could do, and not everyone is wired the same way when they see something like that. I’m a volunteer EMT and if I saw that I would act differently than other people without training. In fact I did once for a coworker who fell. So, while it doesn’t look like he cared much let’s not try to knock him off his pedestal so fast when days ago you were so happy the guy got the Super Bowl win. The poor woman broke 2 cameras and fractured her spine in the fall. A GoFundMe has been set up to help her.
