THE HOUSTON AMERICAN LEGION HAS NEW LEADERSHIP, BUT THE SAME SPIRIT
Written by admin on May 22, 2022
Every week in May we will be showcasing a local American Legion and honoring our members of the armed forces both past and present. They are very active in their community with both youth and adult activities. They sponsor scholarships and educational opportunities for students and student athletes as well as raise funds through events and charitable gambling. We salute those that have served and those that continue to serve. May We Thank You.
The Houston, MN American Legion Post #423 has a long tradition of helping in the community. Every year they present students and student athletes with awards and scholarships to assist them with their further education. The Legion Club is active during the Houston Hoedown Days celebration either giving people a place to cool off or bringing in helicopter rides or traveling attractions. They still have their steak fry on the weekends and on the holidays they hand out candy to children with the help or Santa and Mrs.s Claus and have an Easter Egg Hunt in the Spring. Recently a man who we’ve spoken to many times over the years, Richard Snow retired as Post Commander and Tom Hill was appointed the new Post Commander. We wish Mr. Snow well in his retirement! The Houston American Legion has their annual Memorial Day program in the City Park on Memorial Day at 10AM. You can bring a lawn chair or a blanket and enjoy the ceremony!
The Caledonia American Legion is very active in their community helping people in the community and the local high school sports. They regularly open their doors for sporting event, whether it “The Big Game” or the Warriors playing in the playoffs or a Championship game.
