FORESTVILLE MINNESOTA IS THE GHOST TOWN IN FILLMORE COUNTY THAT YOU CAN VISIT

I love history and old buildings. Always having a glimpse of where we came from is fascinating and looking at old architecture is usually more beautiful than modern work. The fact that a lot of old buildings are still standing strong is a testament to how we used to build. Just look at downtown La Crosse, Winona, or Lanesboro where you can find buildings that are part of he history of those towns. I am also always interested in those towns that never seemed to grow or slowly regressed to just an intersection and a couple of buildings left over. Forestville in Fillmore county was primed to be one of the biggest towns in Minnesota until things changed in the transportation landscape and it slowly drifted into history and went to a population of zero. What’s cool is that people kept up the buildings that are there and you can tour Minnesota’s best run ghost town. I had never heard of Forestville growing up one county over, but after a recent news story I’m interested in taking a visit to a town trapped in time. If you’re looking for a family excursion this summer that’s not too far away or hard on your gas tank this might be what you’re looking for.
