“HISTORIC” SNOWFALL POSSIBLY HEADED FOR TWIN CITIES

Written by on February 21, 2023

Where we live is no stranger to bad weather especially in the winter. Every year we usually have one or two bad storms or maybe a string of sub-zero days that seem unrelenting. Every so often we get a big storm that is reminiscent of days long gone when our parents walked uphill both ways through 3 feet of snow to get to school. Tomorrow night might be that kind of storm for most of the area. However. north on Interstate 90 might be the absolute worst of it with St. Paul and Minneapolis possibly seeing over two feet of snow! Winona, Olmstead, and Wabash counties along with La Crosse, Trempealeau, and others could have significant visibility issues as well. Add in a decent wind and we have all the ingredients for a storm that may border on a blizzard. Already flights into Minneapolis are getting canceled around the country as I had a parent of my basketball team inform me that both their kids are stuck with them several states away and won’t be there. I know at times these storms get a bit over hyped and aren’t nearly as bad as they sound. Due to out hardy nature we tend to stare out the window at the 3 foot drifts and say, “Eh, that’s not so bad.” Mostly these reports are to warn you of how bad it COULD be and to not take it lightly or travel in it. So, if there is somewhere you need to go I suggest packing up and getting gone a little early. And if travel is shut down in an area, for the sake of emergency personnel as well as your own safety please stop somewhere and be safe.
