COUNTRY STAR OF THE MONTH: COREY KENT

Corey Kent White is his full name. Shortening it for professional reasons. It’s not uncommon in the entertainment business to go by middle names, change their order, or change your name all-together for anonymity. Corey was going by his full name growing up in Oklahoma, and when he appeared on The Voice in 2015. Corey is a smart person as he graduated from high school at the age of 16 and went on to Nashville for a bit to try to capitalize on his singing that he had been doing on local circuits since he was 11. He put his brain back to work by going to college at Oklahoma State University.

The music bug stuck with him though and he began writing songs and singing at local clubs while at school. Corey took a chance and signed up to be on The Voice and was, of course on Blake Shelton’s team. He made it to the final 8 but was eventually eliminated. However, some of the cover songs he did actually charted on the Country Billboard Charts. He shortened hi name in 2022 and released the song “Wild As Her” that gained immediate traction on streaming services. It has been steadily climbing the charts the last few months as people enjoy his subtle Oklahoma drawl and gentle voice. He should be sticking around for a while regardless of what name he goes by.
