COMEDIAN MISJUDGED HIS AUDIENCE AND VENUE

I love when people have a sense of humor. I marvel at those that are so whip smart that they come up with a joke or a funny story right on the spot. Comedians put themselves on stage to show off their skills with varying degrees of success. Most comedians will tell you that you have to kind of “read the room” before you throw out certain jokes. If they know they’re doing a set for the Loyal Order of Water Buffalo they might be able to get by with more risque jokes and pole fun at their organization and know it’s all in fun. They have to make sure that jokes don’t bomb, but more than that don;t offend a group of people with a joke that isn’t funny and just hurtful. I learned at a young age when an adult made a joke at an airport even way before 9/11 that it is not always funny. Do I think there is a bit of a loss of humor in the world? Yes. People forget that jokes at times are supposed to be provocative at times and make you a bit uncomfortable. However, don’t walk into a crowded room and yell fire “as a joke”. A comedian recently thought it would be fun to secretly video an airline pilot and ask him a question in front of other customers. Let’s just say it didn’t go like he thought it would.
