DID WE REALLY NEED A REMAKE OF THE CINEMATIC CLASSIC “ROAD HOUSE”?

Apparently someone think we did. “Road House” starring Patrick Swayze came out in 1989 with a good amount of hype due to Swayze being a hot commodity in Hollywood. It’s the story of a professional bouncer or “cooler” named Dalton that uses his martial arts skills to help turn around bars that have bad clientele by cleaning out the riff-raff while training the staff to handle altercations at the bar. The movie is mostly a schlocky 80s action film in a small town bar where one man tries to run everything and Dalton fights back. I mean, JC Penny is coming to town because of him! Ask anyone! It holds a special place in most people’s hearts because of how silly it is, but at the same time is pretty badass. Now Hollywood has decided it needs to be done again with Jake Gyllenhaal playing Dalton who is an ex MMA fighter. The plot seems pretty similar to the original, but we don’t know if this is some form of sequel or a reboot. It’s too bad we lost Patrick years ago to cancer and Sam Elliot’s character died in the film so we can’t even get an awesome cameo. What do you think of them remaking “Road House”? Because as we know…. opinions vary.
