For decades Pete Rose has been the poster child for betting on sports. Most know the story that Rose was caught betting on baseball when he was a player and manager. While some argue whether he threw games to win bets for his own team it seemed to be that was not an issue. But Major League Baseball had taken a hard stance on betting on the game you were playing. You just couldn’t do it. Now betting on games is as easy as clicking an app on your phone and not taking a trip to Las Vegas. While some players in the NFL and other major sports have also been caught doing some betting it was found to be minor and they were suspended and fined. Jontay Porter, who currently plays for the Raptors obviously went WAY beyond minor betting. The NBA banned him for life. You can clearly see why in their press release. When you bet a few hundred dollars no one will pay attention. When you bet tens of thousands and win millions someone is going to start watching.
