COUNTRY STAR OF THE MONTH: DRAKE MILLIGAN

Written by on May 6, 2024

Drake Milligan’s journey into the heart of country music was like a tale spun from the very lyrics he sang. Born and raised in the small town of Arlington, Texas, Drake’s passion for music blossomed early, nurtured by the rich heritage of country sounds that echoed through the Lone Star State. His first song release was Sounds Like Something I’d Do. He followed that up with a honky tonk shaker Jukebox Songs And Barstool Beers.

With a voice as smooth as aged whiskey and a knack for storytelling woven into every note, Drake quickly garnered attention from local audiences. From dusty barroom stages to intimate backyard gatherings, he honed his craft, channeling the spirit of country legends like Merle Haggard and an Elvis impersonator he saw once. He made the pilgrimage to Music City, USA. He had been hired to play Elvis in a CMT TV show called “Sun Records”.

Drake even took his talents to American Idol, but he felt that he wasn’t ready for the at platform so he decided to step away from the show. Drake and his band then went on America’s Got Talent and came in 3rd. Soon, record deals followed, and Drake’s name began to grace the airwaves, his songs weaving their way into the hearts of listeners across the country. Drake remained true to his roots, never forgetting the dusty roads of Texas that led him to where he stood. He’s going to bring that talent to Riverfest this summer and let his voice carry over the Mississippi.

Drake Milligan is pure country. Love his music, but I don’t hear it on the radio. They need to quit playing the “crap” they call country music and just play Drakes music. Now that’s country!
