FOLLOW UP SERIES ON NETFLIX “RECEIVER” GIVES ANOTHER LOOK INSIDE THE LIFE OF AN NFL PLAYER

Written by on August 14, 2024

Last year Netflix came out with a one-of-a-kind documentary that took the sports world by storm. Quarterback looked into the lives of NFL players at the most scrutinized position and how they dealt with their time on and off the field. The subjects of the series were a mix of stars and struggling players. Patrick Mahomes and Kirk Cousins were the most talked about players as the show put a spotlight on them and people really saw them as more than just players. Even casual fans of football found the show captivating. It was only right that the next iteration of the program would focus on the next position on the offense that has become the most fun to follow. Receiver looks at players Davante Adams, Justin Jefferson, George Kittle, Deebo Samuel and Amon-Ra St. Brown that are some of the premiere players at the position in the NFL.

Once again, Netflix came up with another documentary worth the watch. While it doesn’t seem to hit as hard as Quarterback this follow up gives another glimpse into the people that we cheer and jeer. The series covers how an injury to these players is sometimes overcome and how it puts them out of games. While they play through some of them just as we saw with the QBs there wasn’t the same connection that viewers got especially with Kirk Cousins. Since Juston Jefferson is in this season we do get to see Cousins again. His season ending injury greatly affected Jefferson’s performance and the team’s record after it looked like they might be a strong playoff contender. Receiver looks hard at the different roles and aspects as the receivers’ lives and that they aren’t just cocky showboats. They are family men with kids that are their world. That even when signing the largest contract for a wide receiver in NFL history that they are humble and don’t all live in mansions. Whether you’re a fan of any of the teams represented or even a fan of the NFL you should take the time to watch this series and learn more about the men playing and sacrificing their bodies for our entertainment.
